We work hard to bring delicious ice-cold and piping hot drinks to thirsty souls.

Our line of drinks are all personally handpicked, and taste tested by our panel of guinea pigs and brewed, blended and/or mixed with care, and we care, deeply, about our ingredients. You might even say we’re perfectionists, but no one is perfect. We try to come close though.

The Story

Cat in the Box started out as just a table, a tent, a Nespresso machine, and two people who saw an opportunity to serve coffee at events.

From one table, it went to better signs, a kickass popup counter, a proper espresso machine, barista masterclasses. We’ve now made our home in the first floor of the picturesque Empire Damansara in Damansara Perdana, but we still continue to bring our mobile coffee and tea bar to outside events. Recently we’ve tied up with new partners in different industries – theatrethreesixty in support of Malaysian arts, and Good Play Gaming in support of the local e-sports scene.

Hidden Java Gem

We carry only one bean at the moment, because sometimes, that’s all you need.

Our amazingly aromatic signature bean hails from East Timor, also known as Timor Leste, a small southeast Asian country that gained independence from Indonesian colonization in 2002.

Farmed using traditionally organic methods, East Timor coffee is known as one of the best coffees in the world. It’s smooth, nutty, with mild acidity, and a pleasing body.

Coffee is Personal.

As we like to put it, those who can appreciate coffee, will generally appreciate our coffee, and those who are less particular, will say it’s “Ok-lah,” which is really, fine by us.

We like our coffee ALWAYS fresh, so it’s roasted by our master roaster in a top secret location right here in KL, and ground right before we brew it. You won’t find it anywhere else, either, because it’s exclusive to our cafe.

Our coffee has been hailed as one of the best in town. Whether this is true, we can’t say, because we haven’t really tried every single coffee out there, but we’re glad some people think so.

We Brew it Cold too.

We’re actually quite proud of our cold brew. Cold brewing is a technique that uses no heat at all, so you get a clean, smooth flavor, with remarkably less acidity. We cold brew our East Timor coffee beans into a concentrate that can be diluted to taste, and is exceptionally rich, smooth, and gentle on the stomach.

Each batch takes us 24-48 hours to brew and bottle, and is filtered with a non-reactive titanium filter double-plated with pure gold to ensure that all the aromatic oils aren’t lost, and you have the full flavor profile of our coffee.
